Restoration

Terracotta

Terracotta was a very popular material used often in accenting buildings. This material has however become expensive and it has become costly to replace when damaged.

A more cost effective method of repairing buildings is to replace damaged pieces with limestone stained to match.

First we take the damaged piece off and make a template. We then use this template to shape the limestone. Finally we stain the stone to match the building and install the completed piece.

This is a patio renovation we did for the State of Illinois at Starved Rock.

Every masonry structure needs a solid foundation or the structure itself will crack and begin to fall apart. As you can see the limestone base for this monument was badly deteriorated. This caused a multitude of cracked mortar joints and cracked bricks. We were able to replace this limestone base with a new one, tuckpoint the mortar joints and replace the cracked brick with a customer approved match.
